Carpenter, William -- Mr. William Carpenter was born September 20th 1841, and died October 15th, 1918, aged 77 years and 25 days.  The deceased was a son of Robert and Mrs. Mary Carpenter.  In the year 1864 he was united in marriage to Miss Minerva Jones.  To this union were born five children all of which are living, viz:  Mrs. Nettie Beachler, John Carpenter, Mrs. Eva Bowen, Jay Carpenter, and Mrs. Grace Allenbaugh.  Surviving him also are four brothers, George, Frank, David and John, and two sisters, Barbara Jones and Mary Leideigh.  Twenty-one grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren are also bereft of a kind grandfather.     In his early life, Mr. Carpenter united with the Reformed church whose minister at that time was the Rev. H. H. Sandow.  There he attended until in his later years, old age incapacitated him. Besides the mourning relatives he leaves a multitude of friends and acquaintances who will miss his presence in their midst; but though death has claimed him, yet may we find solace in the truth that:   "There is a house not made with hands, Eternal in the Sky, And there his spirit waiting stands, Til God shall bid it fly."  "Shortly the prison of his clay Must be dissolved and fall, Then will his soul, with joy obey His Heavenly Father's call."  CARD OF THANKS -- We desire hereby to acknowledge with grateful appreciation the many kindnesses and sympathy shown us during our recent bereavement.  Also the singers and minister for his consoling words.  -- Family of William Carpenter.  Submitted by Chris.  [Loudonville Democrat:  24 October 1918]

Naylor, John F. -- Departed this life March 27, 1893, John F. Naylor, in the 28th year of his age. Mr. Naylor was born in Lake township in 1865, was a good boy in his school days as the writer well knows; as he was our pupil in our teaching years and he grew up to be a straightforward and honorable man. About three years ago he was married to Miss Sophrona, daughter of Robert Marks, Esq. His health had been failing for some time and last autumn he realized that he was in the grasp of that fell destroyer, consumption. Thinking to receive some benefit from change of climate, he went to Florida in November, but returned in about a month without having received any mitigation of his disease, and from that time till his death he suffered with fortitude and resignation. He was a member of Mansfield Council, S. O. A. M. and was buried on Thursday with the ceremonies of that order in the presence of a large concourse of friends, after a sermon by Rev. Warner, of Hayesville. He leaves a widow and child to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father. The sorrowing friends have the sympathy of the community. Miss Anna and W. S. Naylor, of Holmes county, and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Beaird and D. O. Naylor and wife, of Hayesville, attended the funeral of their brother, John Naylor, on Thursday. Submitted by klynn.
